MetaMundo launched its 3D NFT Marketplace for the Metaverse with a focus on primary art sales.
The marketplace lets you collect and own scenes and metaverse assets as NFTs, and it’s compatible for use in multiple virtual environments like Decentraland, Cryptovoxels, The Sandbox, and Spatial.
MetaMundo taps into the primary sales market for 3D images for use in galleries, villas, concert halls, parks, avatars, vehicles and more. 3D artists, architects and designers can sell their 3D scenes and assets on the MetaMundo Marketplace, directly to users of the metaverse, the universe of virtual worlds that are all interconnected, like in novels like Snowfall and Loan player one.
JPEG-based NFT markets are common. But this kind of 3D art marketplace is unique and tackles the problem of creating an open metaverse — interoperable assets between engines and worlds, co-founder Finn Hansen said in an interview with GamesBeat.
“It’s important that we allow talented creatives, 3D artists, to shape these experiences and be at the forefront of building the metaverse, which really needs to be built because we’re only at the beginning of its existence,” he said. “Today, if you buy a 3D asset in one of the marketplaces that are usually closely tied to a virtual world, most of the time you can’t use those files in other worlds.”
The company believes there is progress in interoperability with emerging standards bodies. Avatars in particular should become cross-platform, so you can take your identity from place to place.
“Everyone will need an avatar, and I think people will have multiple avatars, depending on their mood, the type of environment they want to go in, and how they want to express themselves,” Hansen said. “You will want to choose your outfit and your clothes. The vehicles will be interesting.
MetaMundo supports standards such as Pixar’s Universal Scene Description, which has been adopted as an open source standard for sharing 3D assets.
The company has made it possible to make 3D game assets available in the form of NFTs. He built a custom 3D viewer where you can see the different interoperable versions of the same 3D asset for each environment. It took more than a year of development to build it.

MetaMundo partners with a curated selection of 3D creators, active in both metaverse and real-life design, such as renowned NFT artist Dutchtide, American modernist architect Luis Fernandez, and metaverse architect Mila Lolli. A marketplace designed for 3D NFTs and interoperability
MetaMundo has developed its own Ethereum-based NFT specifically designed for 3D files and metaverse interoperability – solving a number of issues with 3D files, metaverse, and NFTs. Thanks to a flexible metadata structure, multiple 3D files can be included in an NFT.

With the rapid growth of the metaverse and 3D virtual environments, MetaMundo has designed and built a user experience specifically geared towards collecting 3D NFTs. MetaMundo is an online marketplace based in the British Virgin Islands, with a dozen employees. MetaMundo is built on Polygon, the eco-friendly blockchain, which means minting and selling assets will have very low gas fees compared to Ethereum and will use much less energy.
What kind of content will keep people coming back to the metaverse?
“We think about it a lot. So it’s really at the forefront of our minds. We obviously have these conversations with the creators as well.
